All-on-X Dental Implants

What Is the All-on-X Procedure?

In the All-on-X procedure, sometimes referred to as All-on-4, four or more dental implants are placed in the jaw to support a full set of replacement teeth.

In other words, four dental implants hold up a dental bridge made of durable materials such as zirconia. This creates a secure fit for the prosthetic allowing you to chew and talk without it slipping. This also means that less jaw rebuilding is needed compared to older methods.

All-on-X vs. Dentures

All-on-X and dentures are two of the most common solutions for advanced tooth loss or severe dental deterioration. Traditional dentures are generally less stable than All-on-X restorations when eating or speaking. Partial dentures rely on neighboring healthy teeth for support, which can place additional stress on those teeth over time. Snap-on dentures are secured using dental implants, typically two or more, but may still allow some movement because the denture attaches through snaps rather than being fully fixed in place.

All-on-X and dental bridges are both fixed tooth replacement solutions. However, traditional dental bridges require healthy neighboring teeth for support. To place the bridge, these teeth are typically reshaped to accommodate the restoration. Over time, this can place additional stress on the supporting teeth and may affect their long-term health. Because All-on-X restorations are supported by dental implants rather than neighboring natural teeth, they do not rely on adjacent teeth for stability.

Some people delay treatment because of cost concerns or dental anxiety. However, leaving severely damaged or missing teeth untreated can lead to worsening discomfort, difficulty eating certain foods, and progressive oral health complications over time. All-on-X restorations are designed to provide a more stable, comfortable solution that supports both function and long-term jawbone health.
